DATC Session 8 has completed the 12 week Intensive Training Program becoming Dental Assistant I.
Graduation was held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Integrity Church in Burlington. More than 50 friends and family joined us to celebrate DATC 8's completion of our program.
On April 13, students had their Resumes and Cover Letters reviewed by Ms. Jackie Chambers, Owner of GCB Staffing in Burlington, and enjoyed a presentation from Dr. Steve Gollehon, Oral Surgeon at Piedmont Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Centers in Burlington and Greensboro, NC.
The students, now graduates, completed their Full Mouth Series of Radiographs on "Live Patients" and participated in Mock Interviews with Dr. Karen Barwick, Program Director.
"We have thoroughly enjoyed this Session. Each class brings something different in the way of personalities and skill sets. At DATC, we attempt to enhance all parts of the students abilities whether it be communication or clinical skills. This group will be an asset to the profession," adds Tracey Thompson-Payne, DATC Instructor.
Our program operates on a TELL, SHOW, DO Learning experience.
The students have weekly assignments that are completed PRIOR TO 8AM each Saturday. Homework assignments are collected and graded while a PowerPoint Presentation is reviewed (TELL).
Remember, DATC is Family Friendly. We NEVER have class on a holiday weekend.
Immediately following the powerpoint presentation, the students go to the clinic area for a demonstration of the subject matter that was their homework and powerpoint presentation (SHOW).
Once the skill has been demonstrated, the students practice the skill with an instructor watching, instructing, and correcting until the student is comfortable with the particular skill (DO).
DATC is a 12 week INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM which meets on Saturdays in the office of Dr. Karen Barwick in Graham, North Carolina. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have met the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners requirements for Dental Radiology, OSHA and Infection Control, Dental Office Emergencies and CPR.
