    As part of the DATC Dental Assistant I Program, Students become American Red Cross Certified in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers.

    Students learn about the Dental Operatory Set-up, Infection Control using Barriers and about the Dental Unit.

    As part of the OSHA and Infection Control, Students learn about PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for them and for the patient.  Using barriers and wearing the proper protective items keeps everyone safe.

Dr. Barwick is a graduate of UNC School of Dentistry and has been in private practice since 1987. The DATC is located within her dental practice.

Mona Conklin, Certified Dental Assistant, DA II - Instructor
Mrs. Conklin graduated with honors from the Technical College of Alamance earning a diploma in Dental Assisting in 1972. She has been a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) for more than 30 years.
Michelle-1 Michelle Day, Certified Dental Assistant, Dental Assistant II - Instructor
Mrs. Day received a diploma in Dental Assisting (DA II) from Alamance Community College, where she graduated with Honors in 1991. She successfully completed the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) in 1991. She worked as a CDA for 14 years and is currently the appointment coordinator and Chief Front Office Administrator for Dr. Barwick.

Shelly Belton, Dental Assistant II - Instructor
Mrs. Belton graduated from Alamance Community College in 1988 with a Dental Assisting Diploma (DA II). She is currently employed as a Chairside Dental Assistant in the office of Dr. Sandra Fuller in Greensboro, where she has been employed since 1999. Shelly is married and has 2 sons.

Sherry Garner, Certified Dental Assistant Emeritus, Dental Assistant II - Instructor
Mrs. Garner graduated from Alamance Community College in 1989 with a diploma in Dental Assisting (DA II). She successfully completed the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) in 1991. She worked as a CDA for over 15 years.
Mark_G Mark Garner, Certified CPR - Trainer
Mr. Garner has been a CPR (Cardio Pulminary Resuscitation) Instructor for the American Red Cross for more than five years. He is also a Lieutenant with the Haw River Fire Department. He graduated from Alamance Community College in 1990 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and is employed by Electrical Supply & Equipment of Greensboro, NC as an Automation Specialist.
Hooper_2 Margaret Hooper, Certified Dental Assistant Emeritus, Dental Assistant II - Instructor
Mrs. Hooper is a 1962 graduate of Alamance Community College with a diploma in Dental Assisting. She served as Chairman of the Department of Dental Assisting of Alamance Community College from 1975 until 2003 when she retired. Ms. Hooper also received an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Business Administration in 1986. She is President of Hooper’s Dental Consulting/ Continuing Education. Ms. Hooper teaches Dental Office Emergencies and is licensed to instruct, test and certify students in Dental Radiology by the North Carolina State Board Of Dental Examiners(G.S. 90-29 ( c ) (12).

Julie Johnson, Certified Dental Assistant, Dental Assistant II, Lab Assistant - Assistant Instructor
Ms. Johnson earned a Dental Assisting diploma (DA II) in 2007 from Alamance Community College. Julie achieved the Certified Dental Assistant status in October, 2010 after successfully completing the Dental Assisting National Board Examination (DANB) She is the Clinical Coordinator in the office of Dr. Barwick.

Meredith Macey, Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), Dental Assistant II - Instructor
Mrs. Macey is a full time Registered Dental Hygienist. She received an Associate’s Degree in 2004 in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. She received a diploma in Dental Assisting in 2002 (DA II) at Alamance Community College.

Tracey Thompson Payne, Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) – Instructor
Mrs. Payne is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She holds a 1996 Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences and Dental Hygiene from Guilford Technical Community College. She completed a course at UNC School of Dentistry to instruct, test and certify students in Dental Radiology by the North Carolina State Board Of Dental Examiners (G.S. 90-29 ( c ) (12). She is the OSHA/SPICE Officer for DATC. She has been an instructor for OSHA since 2006. She also has experience assisting and instructing for Hooper's Dental Consulting/Continuing Education.

Kristyn Lowe, Dental Assistant II - Lab Assistant - Assistant Instructor

While attending East Carolina University to earn a nursing degree, Kristyn decided to set her sights on being a dental assistant instead. In 2006 she earned her certificate in Dental Assisting from Piedmont Dental Assisting. She started working at Morgan and Bentsen, DDS in February 2007 and have been there ever since.  She enjoys all aspects of assisting and sees everyday as a new learning experience. In October of 2008 she married her high school sweetheart, Brian. They have a new baby girl, Palmer and 2 dogs, Cooper and Zoey. In their free time they like to hunt, fish and love to spend time with family and friends.

Magan Campbell, Certified Dental Assistant, Dental Assistant II, Lab Assistant - Assistant Instructor 
Magan graduated from Alamance Community College's Dental Assisting program in 2007. Family and friends are number one in her life.In Magan's free time she loves going shopping at TJ Maxx, taking shag lessons, and going on weekend getaways to Hyco Lake and the beach. Magan became a Certified Dental Assistant in 2011.
